12th Annual USSSA Fall Scholastic Showcase

October 2-3, 2010

Tournament Rules & Information

1.     The tournament will be played at Bachman Sports Complex in Glen Burnie, Maryland.  The address and directions to Bachman can be found under the “Parks” section of www.usssa1.com.

2.     Bachman has a "No Smoking" policy meaning smoking at the park is only allowed in the parking lot.  Bachman also has a "No Dogs" policy.  This prohibits any dog from being outside on park grounds.  Anyone with a dog will be asked by the park staff to either leave the park with it or keep it contained in their vehicle.

3.     In the event of inclement weather, a message will be left at 410-439-2255 (State Office Line). Please only have one member of the team make the call in order to not tie up the phone line.  We may also use email and the “Director’s Forum” portion of the message board at www.usssa1.com as a way to communicate any schedule changes.  Beyond these means, if a team is still unclear as to their game situation, the manager only may also call Keri Lounge (for Virginia teams) at 410-206-6006 or Tommy Thompson (for MD, DE & PA teams) at 410-294-1091.  Please note that as a general rule we do not individually contact each team in the event of adverse weather conditions.  Rather, it is the team’s responsibility to check the lines of communication listed above.

4.     The winner of a coin toss will have choice of being home or visitors.

5.     Unlimited defensive substitution will be allowed, with no reporting of substitutes required.  This is for defensive only.  Offensively, teams are still required to submit a lineup, bat only 9 (if no AP's), 10 (if one AP) or 11 (if two AP's) batters and report any substitutes.

6.     All games will be subject to a time limit of 1:20.  The inning will be finished when the time expires, unless the home team is at bat and winning.

7.     All games will be subject to the International Tiebreaker Rule.  The tiebreaker will be in effect only after 7 innings have been completed and if the time limit hasn't elapsed.  Only one tiebreaker inning will be held.  Once the time limit has elapsed and the game is tied, then the game is considered final and a tie will be awarded to both teams.

8.     All games will be subject to the Run Ahead Rule.  8 runs after 5 innings, 10 runs after 4 and 12 runs after 3.  Losing team must bat in the inning in which the rule is invoked.

9.     Teams must be prepared to play 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time of a game, or 1 hour ahead of schedule if we were to have bad weather.

10.              Forfeit time is game time; however, the director’s discretion may be used if unique         circumstances warrant otherwise.
